Introduction
This article displays the employee side of the Grant Shares process. This is specifically the case where the grant is platform-generated, not uploaded. Note that the consultant and advisor experience when accepting a grant is the same as the employee experience.
Accepting a Grant - the Grantee Side
Grantee receives an email
Once the company has generated the grant and sent it for signature, the employee will receive an email that provides a link for them to accept the grant.
Link launches workflow
When the employee clicks the link, they will be invited to log into their account (or set it up if this is the first time they have been invited to the platform). Then, they will be redirected to the active grant shares workflow.
Employee completes workflow
Now, the employee can proceed through the workflow to accept their grant.
Confirm your information
The first step of the workflow invites the employee to confirm their address. It also gives them the opportunity to reject the request altogether if they believe this grant was sent to them by mistake.
Sign Document(s)
Next, the employee is asked to e-sign the grant and any accompanying documents. They are also notified that they may want to file an 83(b) with the IRS within 30 days, if applicable to their particular grant.
Spousal Consent
If the employee's state is identified as a community property state, the workflow invites them to consider having their spouse sign the grant, if applicable. If they choose to have their spouse sign, the workflow will ask them to add the spouse's information and will then send them an invitation to accept the grant as well.
Upload Proof of Purchase
If applicable, the workflow will give the employee the opportunity to upload proof of stock purchase. The employee can defer this document and upload it at a later day if needed. Once this step is completed, the workflow is finished and the grant is fully signed.
